This is an incredible Italian sterling silver rope chain necklace! It's certainly not easy to find vintage Italian jewelry like this anymore. This is a great unisex piece with a large scale, dramatic effect Cause its made up of solid not hollow 

The clasp is stamped "925". Please note, there is one area of the chain that has been stamp 925 (see photos), but it's solid not hollow The chain measures 0.5 cm wide (or 0.2 inches) and is 31 inches in length. It weighs a total of 133.96 grams.
